This vegan yeast plait not only looks beautiful, but also tastes fantastic. It is easier to make than it looks and consists of only a few ingredients. Serve it for brunch, for example, and your guests will be thrilled 🙂
Ingredients
- 200 g Wacker Sprouted Spelt Flour Organic
- 200 g Spelt flour type 1050
- 20 g fresh yeast
- 250 ml lukewarm water
- 2 EL Olive oil
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 Glass Wacker Basil Pesto Organic
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water.
- Knead both flours with yeast & water, then add olive oil and salt and knead again.
- Leave the dough to rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough and spread with Wacker Basil Pesto, then roll up. Cut the roll in half and braid the two strands into a plait. Place in a loaf tin and leave to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees top/bottom heat for 45 minutes, leave to cool and enjoy.

Why can't I just use sprouted spelt flour? What is the difference to spelt flour type 1050?
You can definitely try it 🙂 We used another flour as it helps to bind it better. But we also have a lot of recipes where we only use our sprouted flour, so that should work out 🙂
